About The Position

The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the assigned areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This includes floor care, restroom cleaning, trash removal, window cleaning, and general maintenance. The role also involves reporting maintenance needs, ordering supplies, and assisting other custodians as needed. Specific duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, moving furniture, servicing restrooms and classrooms, cleaning entryways and windows, dusting furniture, and maintaining custodial areas and equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial experience preferred.
• Excessive standing and/or walking.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals.
• Exposure to heights.
• Exposure to loud noises.
• Lifting (weight) - 50 lbs.
• Completed UCM online application for employment required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust mop, spot mop, spray buff, shower scrub, burnish, and refinish all hard surface floors.
• Vacuum, spot clean, shampoo, and extract carpets.
• Move furniture, equipment, and materials, and perform other general maintenance.
• Service, clean, and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, and offices.
• Clean drinking fountains.
• Remove trash and debris from the building to the dumpster.
• Clean entryways, partition glass, interior windows, blinds, light fixtures, and vents.
• Dust furniture and spot clean walls, ceilings, and doors/frames.
• Maintain custodial closets, work areas, and equipment in a clean and safe manner.
• Perform snow removal as required.
• Report any repair or replacement needs to the Facilities Main Office via job request.
• Order and re-stock supplies.
• Assist or relieve relief custodians as assigned.
