About The Position

This position is responsible for performing janitorial duties, minor maintenance, and scheduled cleaning projects to ensure that campus buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. The role primarily involves evening hours with little supervision.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of custodial experience.
  • Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirement.
  • Current and valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment.
  • Basic maintenance skills.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials Information System.
  • Ability to work under little supervision with professional and courteous communications.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to spend the entire time at work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors, moving desks, and furniture.
  • Ability to do a great deal of stretching and bending, often in awkward positions.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, type, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools, reach with hands and arms, talk, listen, hear, read, see, lift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial and related duties for County Buildings as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform basic repairs and assemblies.
  • Perform “deep cleans” assigned by the supervisor.
  • Coordinate with supervisor by telephone and/or in person to exchange information and receive special work instructions.
  • Cooperate with supervisor, co-workers and building occupants in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Interact with the public in a cooperative atmosphere showing respect and support.
  • Secure offices and buildings as required.
  • Clean and maintain offices/courtrooms including workspaces, desks, trash cans, door handles and surfaces, walls, counters, furniture, and glass windows.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpets, and shampoo carpets as a deep clean task.
  • Clean and maintain bathrooms including trash containers, sinks, door handles, soap dispensers, handicap rails, walls, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and tile floors.
  • Restock paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and female hygiene containers.
  • Clean and maintain hallways and general areas including walls, window sills, windows, baseboards, tile floors, furniture, and remove cobwebs.
  • Sweep and mop tile floors daily.
  • Dust surfaces as needed.
  • Buff tile floors.
  • Vacuum carpet and/or rugs.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
