About The Position

Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) is a nonprofit organization serving children and families across Oregon through early education and family support programs. At OCDC, our work has purpose. Position Summary: Maintains county buildings and grounds by providing janitorial, grounds keeping and maintenance/repair services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with one year experience in industrial cleaning, maintenance and repair OR A combination of technical school course work OR experience equivalent to 24 months of maintenance/janitorial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans furniture, classroom tables and chairs, equipment, mirrors and fixtures; washes windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweeps, scrubs and waxes floors; cleans and vacuums furniture and carpeting; stocks paper supplies where needed; replaces light bulbs.
  • Makes other repairs, cleaning or light maintenance as necessary to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for children and staff.
  • Empties trash containers, transports materials to disposal area, and recycles materials.
  • Cleans trash container interiors and installs trash liners.
  • Keeps building entryways clean and inviting, picks up papers and trash, removes ice and snow from walkways and parking lot, paints interior and exteriors.
  • Maintains the lawn and surrounding landscapes, maintains outside lighting, repairs or supervises the repair of exterior equipment or appliances as needed.
  • Follows manufacturer’s operating and care guidelines, completes operator repairs and parts replacement, assists with the general maintenance schedule to include maintenance of roof-top gutters, HVAC equipment, replacing HVAC unit filters.
  • Checks stock to determine inventory level, anticipates needed parts, anticipates cleaning equipment replacement, places orders with Facilities and Safety Technician’s authorization, picks up and unloads supplies as assigned.
  • Attends workshops, seminars and training, networking and reading professional publications.
  • Assists with the implementation of safety and hazardous chemical plans.
  • Adheres to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) procedures.
  • Maintains a safe working environment.
  • Attends team meetings, staff meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Provides set-up and break down of furniture and equipment for various meetings as directed.
  • Establishes open and positive communication and interaction with all staff.
  • Provides positive and constructive input to all aspects of the program.
  • Fosters an understanding of Head Start, its mission, goals, objectives, and program services.
  • Keeps information confidential.
  • Complies with agency safety standards.
  • Supports participation of a safe environment.
  • Immediately reports any unsafe or hazardous working conditions and/or any injury.
  • Participates in emergency drills and assists in the evacuation of the children.
  • Responds to child/adult emergencies by using First Aid and CPR skills.
  • Contacts appropriate medical personnel.
  • Ensures documentation related to incident is completed.
  • Participates in fire drills and assists in the evacuation of the children.
  • Performs other work related or assigned duties.
