About The Position
Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is one of the largest human services organizations in California, guided by the mission of creating help and hope for those that are served. The Agency operates community centers and homeless shelters and delivers a comprehensive range of programs serving individuals and families in need, including in-home services for homebound seniors, refugee resettlement, youth employment services, counseling, affordable before- and after-school care, immigration assistance, early childhood education for low-income children, and a temporary worker center. In addition, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles oversees the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), which coordinates interscholastic athletics for schools throughout Los Angeles. The person in this role for the cleaning and custodial care of Agency buildings and working areas.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic English.
- Six months of related experience.
- Custodial cleaning methods and equipment.
- Cleaning materials and chemicals.
- Cleaning equipment and use.
- Work hazards and safe work practices.
- Catholic Charities’ policies, procedures and organization.
Responsibilities
- Empties waste receptacles.
- Sweeps, scrubs, mops, seals, waxes, and polishes floors and stairways.
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
- Vacuums and shampoos carpets.
- Dusts, cleans, and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment.
- Washes windows.
- Secures the building in the evening.
- Performs small painting jobs and minor building maintenance.
- Cleans lunchroom tables daily.
- Arranges chairs and tables for meetings.
- Changes light bulbs
- Orders cleaning products and maintains stock.
- Cleans vents, light fixtures, walls, and ceilings.
- Cleans stoves and ensures pilot light ignition.
- Cleans refrigerators
- Performs related duties as assigned.
