About The Position

The Custodian cleans and maintains district buildings and grounds. The position is based at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School and is a full-time, evening position on a 12-month schedule, Monday through Friday. The salary range is $18.24 to $22.70 per hour, and the position is benefits eligible.

Requirements

General knowledge of custodial procedures and safety practices.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of custodial experience.

Responsibilities

Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
Keep the assigned work area neat and clean.
Vacuum, shampoo, sweep, mop, wax, polish, and scrub floor surfaces.
Clean and dust furnishings.
Wash windows and mirrors.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, and locker rooms.
Keep cleaning equipment clean and in proper operating condition.
Clean chalkboards and whiteboards regularly.
Collect trash and place it in trash collection receptacles.
Move furniture and equipment as necessary.
Set up and tear down for special events.
Shovel snow from steps and sidewalks as needed.
Apply sand and ice-melting materials to steps and sidewalks as needed.
Report items that need repair.
Ensure exterior doors are locked according to building schedules, doors and windows are secure, and lights and equipment are shut off.
Raise and lower flags at prescribed times.
Keep grounds free of trash, mow lawns, and trim trees as directed.
Substitute for other district employees when needed.
Participate in mandatory or position-appropriate training required by the district.
