About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Custodial & Maintenance Foreman, the Custodian – RiverPlex Recreation Center is responsible for monitoring the cleanliness of the locker room, ensuring program areas, equipment, and locker rooms are neat and in good repair. This role performs all assigned facility maintenance and clean-up, assists in the preparation and monitoring of maintenance supplies, and helps keep the Riverplex and surrounding grounds clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive. The position requires adherence to all safety procedures and support of the Park District's safety program. The work involves physical exertion, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Exposure to power equipment, turf/field implements, chemicals, cleaning agents, and various hand tools is expected. The indoor work environment is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, while outdoor work exposes the incumbent to various seasonal weather patterns and environmental conditions.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent.
General knowledge of cleaning and maintaining facilities is required.
Must possess basic repair and problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate and maintain mechanized cleaning equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
Physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials.
Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and twisting.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities
