About The Position

The Custodian I position performs general custodial duties for Casper College buildings and facilities; performs additional tasks as directed. The position of Custodian I is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in an effort to create and maintain a clean and sanitary environment inside the designated building(s) and floor(s) of the given areas of responsibility. The Position provides limited security within the building(s) assigned to clean, assists in setting up and taking down for special events and performs additional tasks as directed by their Custodial Crew Leader or designee.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to perform general cleaning duties
Able and willing to perform physical labor for full shift (8 hours)
Able and willing to perform physical labor for more than a full shift (more than 8 hours)
Able to follow relevant policies, procedures, instructions and safety standards; work safely with cleaning equipment and materials.
Ability to maintain a professional, effective and collegial working relationship with co-workers, the public and all campus constituent groups
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize assigned work.

Responsibilities

Sweeps, mops and polishes floors, vacuums and assists with cleaning and shampooing of carpets.
Washes walls, partitions, ceilings, white boards, brick tile and other room coverings; dusts, washes and polishes furniture and wood work.
Cleans and sanitizes washrooms, toilets, showers and polishes metal parts; washes interior and exterior windows, mirrors and other glass.
Empties wastebaskets, removes heavy rubbish to exterior dumpsters and pick-up points.
Removes snow and debris from outside of entries.
Writes requisitions for cleaning supplies; receives and arranges storage of cleaning supplies.
Operates heavy electric motor driven cleaning equipment.
Performs light maintenance duties (i.e. changing lightbulbs).
Moves furniture/equipment in rooms and buildings; assists with event set-up and take down.
Carries and responds to College provided cell phone.
Carries and utilizes a two-way radio while working.
Reports concerns, hazardous conditions, and injuries/ accidents to supervisor or designee.
