About The Position

Carolina SeniorCare is seeking a Custodian to support and assist in maintaining the property, plant, and equipment of the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and performing assigned tasks to ensure locations are sanitary, orderly, and attractive, adhering to all State, Federal, and Local requirements. The Custodian will perform housekeeping, cleaning activities, and floor care within established guidelines to ensure a healthy and clean environment for elderly participants (55 or older).

Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and means of transportation.
Must be able to meet EveryAge auto insurance carrier's standards for coverage.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of basic health and nutrition.
Ability to follow directions/detail oriented.
Demonstrated organizational skills and meeting time constraints.
Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience in health care or school system preferred.

Responsibilities

Follows daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
Cleans assigned areas of the building, including carpeting, walkways, furnishings, and fixtures, according to floor care and housekeeping policy.
Steam cleans or deep cleans all carpets, as scheduled or assigned.
Uses proper carpet cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and efficiently.
Disinfects floors timely and in response to accidents.
Cleans and performs basic preventative maintenance on floor care equipment.
Vacuums all floors as scheduled.
Cleans all furnishings as scheduled.
Cleans baseboards as needed.
Sweeps patios, courtyards, and walkways as needed or assigned.
Responds to floor care emergency calls, such as spills and body fluids, using proper equipment and Universal Precautions.
Moves furnishings and flooring coverings to properly clean floors.
Cleans up spills when accidents occur.
Empties, cleans, and relines waste baskets and receptacles daily, removing and disposing of waste.
Recycles materials such as boxes, newspapers, and cans.
May be required to set up and break down equipment for events and cleans areas used for events.
Cleans moveable and stationary furnishings and fixtures, and straightens/arranges furniture as needed.
Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to supervisor.
Dusts, spot cleans, washes, disinfects, and polishes surfaces as required.
Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, walls, and mirrors.
Replenishes bathroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
Cleans walls, windows, and doors.
May be required to provide floor care service to hard surface and carpeted floors, including routine cleaning, heavy-duty cleaning, stripping, waxing, spray buffing, sweeping, mopping, and edging.
May be required to use high speed and low speed buffers and burnishing equipment.
Maintains clean entrances and exits.
Performs technical cleaning duties according to established procedures in participant care areas.
Cleans windows per schedule and as directed.
Reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions to maintenance.
Notifies supervisor when supplies are low.
Stores cleaning equipment and supplies neatly and orderly, ensuring storage area is locked and secured.
Practices Universal Precautions and follows appropriate Infection Control procedures.
Maintains a safe working environment, following company policies and OSHA guidelines.
Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of company information.
Participates in continuing education classes and required staff/training meetings.
Serves as a Transportation Escort as requested by supervisor.
Performs related duties as required.
