About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building and its grounds. Housing Works was founded in 1990; With a long-term commitment to AIDS advocacy. Housing Works established New York State’s first harm reduction-based, OASAS-licensed outpatient drug treatment program. Other services include Health Home care management, behavioral health, and syringe exchange programs. A pioneer in the social entrepreneurship movement, Housing Works operates 10 high-end thrift shops in Manhattan and Brooklyn and a much-loved Bookstore Cafe in Soho. Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services. Requirements

• Good communication skills, both verbally and written, including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
• Dependable & flexible as well as possessing the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• S95 to be obtained in first 90 days of employment.
• Basic emailing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for clients, staff, and public
• Communicating information in response to inquiries
• Providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, clinical activities, and events
• Maintaining facilities to minimize facility deterioration and damage
• Responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the facilities.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Participate in monthly inspections to ensure compliance with requirements, cleanliness, and proper upkeep of the facility.
• Ensure that the facility is clean and always maintained.
• Strongly and enthusiastically support and participate in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crises of AIDS and homelessness.
• Other duties as assigned.
