About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in a federally contracted ICE residentially facility. This position performs routine cleaning, housekeeping, sanitation, and general upkeep duties in compliance with applicable health, safety, and sanitation standards. The Custodian must demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and professionalism while working in diverse environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation practices, and safe chemical handling procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required background checks, clearances, and credentials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
  • Employees must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the following screening: Federal background investigation (up to and including a Tier 4 DHS clearance), Criminal history check, Verification of employment and education history, Compliance with all government credentialing requirements, Drug Screening.
  • Employees must adhere to all federal security, confidentiality, and operational protocols while working within government facilities.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Internal background check to the satisfaction of contract requirements.
  • If applicable, Child Abuse/ Neglect Report (CAN) or child protective services check with no adverse findings.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual
  • Experience in healthcare, residential, institutional, government, or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards, infection control practices, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Experience operating floor care equipment and handling regulated waste materials.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect, and sanitize assigned areas, including offices, restrooms, common areas, workspaces, and other facility locations.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors; perform floor care activities as required.
  • Empty trash and waste receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures.
  • Clean and restock restrooms and replenish consumable supplies such as soap, paper products, and trash liners.
  • Launder, change, and restock linens and other facility supplies as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, food service, and dining areas in accordance with sanitation requirements.
  • Follow infection control procedures and properly handle cleaning chemicals and biohazardous materials.
  • Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damage, or unsanitary conditions.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in good working order and report equipment issues or supply shortages.
  • Assist with room setup, breakdown, and other facility support activities as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with facility safety, security, and housekeeping standards.
  • Complete required cleaning logs, inspection reports, inventory records, and maintenance requests.
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, local, and organizational health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to established policies regarding confidentiality, security, and employee conduct.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and briefings as required.
