About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957 and is one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We currently perform janitorial building services, mechanical engineering, HVAC and maintenance services for numerous commercial, retail and residential properties on Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island. We also offer restoration services for various issues, including water damage, fire damage, and mold remediation on Oahu. This role is for a Custodian at a shopping center, working independently and as a team during the nighttime hours. The ideal candidate is a night owl with a keen eye for detail and a knack for keeping things spotless, taking pride in their work and making a difference behind the scenes.

Requirements

• Must pass HBM prescreen check.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions in English is necessary.
• Good public relations and communication skills are essential.
• Applicants must be capable of performing basic manual labor, including: Cleaning common areas pressing, pushing, and pulling, frequently lifting and carrying a minimum of 25lbs (up to 50lbs).
• Reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, walking, crawling, squatting, climbing, and stretching.
• Navigating stairs and using a ladder, as well as standing for the duration of their shifts.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous janitorial, custodian or related experience is preferred, and willing to train.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain common areas of the building's common areas, including restrooms, walk paths, open areas, tables, and chairs.
• Clean both the interior and exterior of the facility, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, and wiping down surfaces using specialized equipment.
• Remove trash and replace liners, ensuring waste is disposed of properly, and keeping supplies fully stocked.
• Efficiently manage trash removal in designated areas.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and promptly report any safety concerns or building issues, such as burnt-out light bulbs, to management.
• Embrace the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, grasping, kneeling, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Perform other tasks assigned by HBM supervisor.
