About The Position

The Custodian performs janitorial services and light maintenance at SS Peter & Paul Catholic School and other parish facilities under the direction of the Pastor, School Principal, Maintenance Supervisor, or another assigned manager. The employee is expected to support the Catholic mission and teachings through their conduct at work and in their personal life, and to respect and act consistently with the values, teachings, and morals of the Roman Catholic Church. The role includes maintaining clean, orderly, and secure facilities; assisting with grounds work as needed; preparing spaces for activities; and maintaining cleaning supplies, equipment, and tools. The employee must follow safety regulations, maintain a safe working environment, and may be required to work weekends or overtime.

Requirements

Working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; must be in full communion with the Catholic Church.

Working familiarity with computer technology.
Ability to successfully pass background, criminal history, and credit history checks.
Valid Arizona driver’s license.

Knowledge, skills, and experience handling janitorial equipment and maintenance tools.
Professional bearing and a clean, neat personal appearance.
High school graduate or equivalent education.
One year of experience in a commercial or private maintenance, janitorial, or similar position.

Responsibilities

Support the Diocese’s Catholic mission and speak, act, and instruct consistently with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

Develop a cleaning schedule to ensure the Church or school is clean and orderly.
Perform general custodial duties and light maintenance at parish or school facilities.
Assist the grounds person as needed.
Perform scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties, including floor waxing, painting, window washing, and carpet cleaning, as directed and in accordance with maintenance schedules.
Set up and clean facilities for activities as directed.
Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment and properly account for materials and equipment.
Maintain the security of buildings, equipment, and tools.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
