About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. This role involves performing janitorial duties, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and maintaining the daily upkeep of assigned areas. The Custodian will also be responsible for Hazardous Waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, storing, and labeling waste, as well as recycling and packaging special and hazardous waste. The position requires compliance with safety rules, policies, and procedures, reporting incidents and hazardous conditions, and performing work assignments in a team environment. Professional conduct, customer service, and understanding reporting systems are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
Completed all safety and task training certification.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Bilingual a plus
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties
Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment
Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
Stop at risk behavior of others and self
Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
Perform repetitive tasks
Maintain clean work area
Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
Take direction and respond to supervision
Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
Fill in during staff shortage
Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
Use proper personal protective equipment
Present a professional appearance and conduct
Understand customer service and satisfaction
Understand reporting systems, and of the environment
