About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a Custodian (Housekeeper) for a building in Manoa, Honolulu. This full-time position is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with Monday and Tuesday off, and pays $18.00 per hour. The role involves maintaining indoor and outdoor common areas and requires effective communication, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.

Requirements

Must pass the HBM prescreen check.
Ability to communicate effectively and comprehend English, including following verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong public relations and communication skills.
Ability to perform basic manual labor and frequently lift, push, press, pull, and carry at least 30 pounds, up to 50 pounds.
Ability to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairs, use elevators, climb ladders, and stand throughout shifts.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous janitorial or custodian experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness throughout building common areas, including the ground floor, lobby and front desk, vending area, corridors, lounges, kitchen and dining area, laundry room, utility rooms, elevators, restrooms, offices, stairwells, ramps, benches, planters, sidewalks, landscape areas around the building perimeter, bicycle shed, landing areas, janitorial closets, and driveway and parking lot.
Sweep, dust, mop, and vacuum indoor areas.
Use a handheld leaf blower to clean outdoor areas.
Clean restrooms and restock supplies.
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas.
Lift trash from bins, bend, navigate staircases, and push trash bins as needed.
