About The Position

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Custodian to assist with performing and/or coordinating the cleaning and sanitation of city buildings and facilities and conducting inspections of buildings and equipment. This Custodian position earns competitive pay of $13.38/hr.

Requirements

High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency.
Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
No Experience Required.
Working knowledge of custodial materials and chemicals.
Working knowledge of the operation of custodial equipment.
Working knowledge of the use and maintenance of building maintenance tools and equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
Ability to use buffer, vacuum, polishers and other related cleaning materials.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attentive to detail.
Dependability.
Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Responsibilities

Cleaning office furniture, walls, windows, and floors; and empty trash.
Performing highly complex custodial work.
Coordinating and performing general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows, light fixtures, and carpets.
Cleaning, dusting, and disinfecting areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities.
Operating floor maintenance equipment, including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors.
Coordinating minor building repairs, scheduling, movement of office furniture and other items.
Maintaining inventory records of building property, custodial and maintenance tools and equipment, and custodial materials and supplies.
Performing minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment.
Securing buildings after working hours or as required.
Providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
