About The Position
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities team at the Thyra Thomson Office Building. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all state employees and visitors and will have a mid-shift from 12 pm to 9 pm Monday through Friday. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)
- Must be able to drive vehicles and operate large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for general cleaning, vacuuming floors and furniture, emptying trash and recycling containers, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, washing windows and mirrors, and cleaning/stocking restrooms, bathrooms, and offices.
- Learns where custodial supplies are kept and replenishes supplies when needed.
- Observe and identify areas that need repair and submit information to the supervisor.
- Complies with state and federal policies such as OSHA and EPA.
- Operates and maintains equipment, including vacuums, riding floor cleaners, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and hand and shop tools.
- Moves furniture and sets up conference rooms for meetings and events.
- Performs designated watchman rounds to ensure security and safety, checks building systems for proper function, and updates security logs.
- Performs chemical renovations.
- Monitors fire protection systems.
- May assist with outside building and grounds duties such as trash and snow removal.
