About The Position

Charlotte Latin School is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our Facilities team beginning in Spring 2026. This role maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our school community. Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Proficient in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to complete detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
Frequently talk and hear.
Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
Long or odd hours, as needed.
Individuals must also be able to safely operate a golf cart or similar vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Two years of related experience, preferred.
Experience in school cleaning or custodial work is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Dust pictures, artwork, and other surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, and vacuuming.
Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all school areas, including bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, and communal spaces, to promote a healthy environment.
Wipe and sanitize horizontal surfaces, walls, window sills, ledges, doors, and door frames.
Empty wastebaskets, clean their interiors and exteriors, and transport trash and recyclables to disposal areas.
Conduct machine cleaning, buffing, stripping, and refinishing of floors.
Perform carpet extraction and bonnet cleaning to maintain fresh and hygienic carpets.
Complete detailed cleaning and scrubbing in assigned areas as needed.
Inspect work areas to identify and address potential safety concerns.
Report any immediate repair needs or supply shortages to the Supervisor promptly.
Assist the Special Events team with event setup and breakdown as needed.
Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies to ensure readiness.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor or School Administration.
