About The Position

The Second Shift Custodian position at West Lafayette Elementary School is a full-time, year-round role responsible for performing a variety of custodial and light maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly school environment. This position reports to the Custodial Lead and/or Director of Maintenance & Facilities and requires a high school diploma or GED. The role involves operating custodial machinery and chemicals, maintaining restrooms, and collaborating with staff and students while representing the school corporation professionally.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Knowledge of and the ability to safely operate custodial machinery, chemicals, and tools.
Familiarity with general cleaning procedures and best practices.
Ability to work independently and exhibit positive energy and enthusiasm for the work.
Strong ability to collaborate and work well as a part of a team.
Ability to follow directions and work without close supervision.

Nice To Haves

Preferred prior experience in custodial and light maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

Perform custodial maintenance tasks including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets.
Clean and restock restrooms regularly to ensure cleanliness and hygiene.
Assist the Custodial Lead in maintaining a clean and orderly school environment to facilitate optimal educational use at all times.
Safely perform all custodial duties as assigned.
Represent the West Lafayette Community School Corporation by maintaining a professional and positive attitude at all times.
Communicate effectively with staff, students, and other stakeholders.
Deliver excellent customer service to all individuals using school facilities and services.
Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
Handle all incidents in a manner appropriate to training and established procedures.
