About The Position

The Custodian performs housekeeping duties such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and all other tasks related to maintaining common areas of the Multi Education Centre clean and tidy. This role also maintains the outside of the building and performs general grounds keeping duties such as snow removal and salting immediately outside the door area. In support of Sagamok Anishnawbek’s goal of providing quality management, the Custodian shall work cooperatively with other departments to provide quality services to its membership.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Previous cleaning experience.
Valid driver’s license and vehicle for on-the-job use.
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Sign and maintain an annual oath of confidentiality.
Secure and maintain certification in Privacy and Confidentiality.
Must provide a criminal record check prior to commencing employment.

Responsibilities

Clean offices, common areas, and public washrooms thoroughly.
Operate various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, in order to remove stains, and other debris from assigned areas.
Report breaches of security or vandalism to the Community Infrastructure Manager.
Promptly provide a list to the Director of IT & Communications of all repair and maintenance that require the services of a skilled tradesperson.
Notify the Community Infrastructure Manager of supplies needed to perform duties prior to depleting the supply.
Use and store chemicals and supplies according to department regulations to ensure safety and efficiency.
Keep all designated sidewalks and entrances free from snow and ice.
Recommend amendments or revisions to the maintenance manual as required.
Participate in regular supervision and an annual performance evaluation.
Participate in training sessions when offered and attend WHMIS training annually.
Other duties relevant to the building assigned to the Custodian.
