About The Position

This position requires a basic understanding of building trades and maintenance work, including building cleaning, maintenance, and mechanical operations. The role involves the proper use, storage, and disposal of various cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials. The Custodian will work as a team player, collaborating effectively and providing excellent customer service. Communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. A basic understanding of boiler and air conditioning systems, including master control for air systems, is also required. The ability to operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment, as well as a postage meter, is necessary. The role involves reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The Custodian must be able to respond and report for work in a reasonable time, even in inclement weather.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Special Engineer License within one year.
  • Possession of a Minnesota Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand and walk.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, smell and talk or hear.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
