About The Position
The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs. The employees in this job are responsible for performing custodial duties necessary for the daily cleaning of 20 of 23 buildings located on the 117 acre campus. The buildings include dormitories, school classrooms, Physical education complex, auditorium and administrative buildings covering approximately 450,000 square feet with 45,000 square feet of walkways and pavilions. These employees also provide laundry services for a 24hr residential facility. Types of items cleaned include lines, blankets and variety of towels. The laundry processes approximately 110,000 pounds of laundry annually. Responsibilities
- Performs custodial tasks including, but not limited to: stripping, waxing, buffing and mopping tile and brick flooring
- maintain wood flooring
- shampooing and vacuuming carpeted flooring
- emptying trash cans, collecting and removing trash and debris from buildings
- dusting furniture, window sills, blinds etc.
- removing cobwebs
- cleaning and sanitizing restrooms surfaces, lavatories, showers, bathtubs and toilets
- cleaning glass and stainless steel surfaces
- replenishing paper towels, tissue and soap in dispensers
- sanitizing water fountains
- cleaning interior and exterior windows
- operate auto scrubbers, carpet machines, bathroom machines, low and high speed floor machines
- provide laundry services for a 24hr residential facility
- clean lines, blankets and variety of towels
