About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. This role involves performing janitorial duties, operating cleaning equipment, maintaining daily upkeep of assigned areas, and reporting any incidents or hazardous conditions to a supervisor. The Custodian must comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and work collaboratively with team members. They are expected to perform repetitive tasks, maintain a clean work area, follow all company protocols, and take direction from supervision. Professional communication with colleagues and customers, filling in during staff shortages, and supporting shift leads are also key aspects of the role. The Custodian must use proper personal protective equipment and present a professional appearance and conduct, understanding customer service and satisfaction, as well as reporting systems and the environment.

Requirements

  • No specific education requirement
  • 3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license
  • Completed all safety and task training certification
  • May be required to be forklift certified
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
  • Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
  • Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stop at risk behavior of others and self
  • Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
  • Perform repetitive tasks

  • Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
  • Take direction and respond to supervision
  • Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
  • Fill in during staff shortage
  • Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
  • Use proper personal protective equipment
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct
  • Understand customer service and satisfaction
  • Understand reporting systems, and of the environment
