About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at the Salvation Army building and grounds and promoting health and safety. Duties include picking up and taking out trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and stocking bathrooms, making sure buildings are secure, cleaning windows and mirrors, and performing minor building repairs.

Requirements

High School Diploma, or GED
One (1) year experience performing general housekeeping duties; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (over 50 lbs.) frequently.
Heavy mobility duties requiring frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, and reaching.
Ability to transport merchandise and supplies regularly.
Requires physical energy to perform housekeeping, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks.
Work may involve hazards, including moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, high places, and high heat.
Conditions may involve physically demanding and repetitive tasks throughout the workday.

Valid State Driver’s License, preferred.

Responsibilities

Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.
Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, buffs, and waxes floors.
Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.
Empties trash cans daily, collect trash from grounds, and sweeps outside walkways.
Maintains boiler room, laundry room, maintenance closets; and ensures all storage areas are orderly and clean.
Assists in performing building maintenance, painting, and repair work.
Use the Salvation Army vehicle to pick up and/or deliver miscellaneous items or to transport passengers, as needed.
Assist in setting up tables and chairs for meeting rooms and special events.
