Custodian, Evenings - Part-time
About The Position
This is a part-time evening position for a Custodian. The role involves cleaning and maintaining various areas within general offices, private offices, lobbies, lounges, kitchen/break rooms, coffee areas, washrooms, restrooms, stairways, corridors, computer rooms, conference rooms, and mailrooms. The custodian will also service hallways and classrooms in schools. Specific duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms, emptying waste receptacles, dusting furniture and surfaces, cleaning glass, and performing miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning drinking fountains and kitchen areas. The custodian is responsible for ensuring the building is secure at the end of their shift.
Requirements
- Ability to sweep and/or damp mop hard surface floors.
- Ability to vacuum and spot clean carpeted floors.
- Ability to clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures.
- Ability to empty waste receptacles and replace liners.
- Ability to dust furniture and surfaces.
- Ability to clean glass surfaces.
- Ability to check locks and set alarms.
Nice To Haves
- Experience cleaning schools including hallways and classrooms.
- Washing and drying of dishes available at extra charge.
Responsibilities
- Sweep and/or damp mop hard surface floors in general offices, private offices, lobbies, lounges, kitchen/break rooms, coffee areas, washrooms, restrooms, stairways, corridors, computer rooms, conference rooms, mailrooms, hallways, and classrooms.
- Vacuum and spot clean carpeted floors.
- Clean entrance lobby floors.
- Vacuum and/or sweep stairs.
- Clean and sanitize restroom floors, fixtures (toilet bowls, urinals, hand basins), mirrors, partitions, and tile walls.
- Empty waste receptacles, replace liners, and place debris in designated areas.
- Refill towels, tissue, hand soap, and feminine product dispensers.
- Sift sand urns and empty/refill as needed for smoking areas.
- Dust desks, filing cabinets, bookcases, chairs, tables, office furniture, windowsills, ledges, moldings, and picture frames, dusting around personal items only.
- Feather dust office machines.
- Clean glass desktops, entrance doors, and partition glass.
- Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.
- Damp wipe kitchen/break room tables, chairs, and appliances, and clean sinks.
- Damp wipe counters and clean sinks in coffee service areas.
- Use minimal lighting when working and turn off lights when service is completed.
- Keep janitorial closets neat and orderly.
- Check all locks and set alarms where necessary before leaving to ensure building security.
