About The Position

Gordon Food Service takes pride in delivering seamless order processing and delivery to our customers, and our warehouse staff is the backbone of our success. As a custodian, you'll support our team by maintaining the buildings to ensure clean, organized operations. You will also sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, empty the trash, clear snow, and maintain the landscaping. You can expect to work in extreme temperatures (-25F to 100F) in the distribution center. There’s no experience required - we'll train you how to get the job done!

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Ability to work in extreme cold or hot conditions (-25F to 100F) is required.
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
Successfully pass a drug test that will assess drug usage and a background check.
Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
Ability to read and understand information on a Material Safety Data Sheet, and adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Ability to work independently and within team environment.
Must have basic computer skills utilizing windows based software.

Nice To Haves

High School / Equivalent Preferred
Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification required after hire

Responsibilities

Maintains the facility and associated paperwork to meet AIB and other food safety standards.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums; may include hallways, stairs and office space within the distribution center.
Empties trash and garbage containers and cleans snow and debris from walkways.
Performs inspections of equipment and reports findings.
Mows lawn, trims shrubbery and cultivates flower.
May remove, charge, transport, and install hi-lo (forklift) batteries in the warehouse.
Performs other duties as assigned.
