About The Position

The Custodian, as part of a shift team, is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of Community Bible Church facilities and exterior grounds. This role includes performing a variety of tasks that support and prepare for services and events. Work assignments are delegated by the Head Custodian designated for the shift, though occasional requests may come from individuals conducting events or classes within the church facilities.

Requirements

Possess strong communication skills in the English language (verbal and writing)
Ability to maintain professional relationships
Ability to follow instructions from senior leaders
Knowledge of general custodial, cleanliness, and sanitation processes
Ability to use hand tools and power tools
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, work independently, multitask, and produce results in a high-stress environment
Comply with standard departmental procedures
Responsible for communicating in a professional, polite, and courteous manner to all staff, members, and guests of the church
Highest level of personal integrity with an uncompromised commitment to the maintenance of the confidentiality and privacy of all personal and church matters, data, and information
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have an available call number or be easily reached by phone

Must be willing to work weekends and occasional special events
Must live life beyond reproach
Genuine desire to serve God and the Church, be an active member in a Christian church and must be a professed Christian

Responsibilities

Cleaning, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, shampooing & steam cleaning carpets, and trash removal in all facilities of the church (to include halls, classrooms, sanctuary, gym, kitchen, restrooms, and concession areas)
Set up rooms for meetings and events (setting up and tearing down furniture arrangements for various functions scheduled in church facilities and classrooms)
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
Service, clean, and supply restrooms
Gather and empty trash
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
Maintain organization and cleanliness of supply closets
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
Other duties, as assigned by Head Custodian or Custodial Supervisors
