The purpose of this role is to perform custodial maintenance of County buildings to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors. The position involves working according to set procedures under close supervision. Duties include general custodial maintenance of assigned County buildings and facilities, including walkways, stairways, elevators, offices, kitchen areas, lobby areas, courtrooms, judge chambers, and restrooms. The role also involves performing various custodial duties such as cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, cleaning kitchen areas, polishing water fountains, cleaning windows and other glass surfaces, cleaning baseboards, dusting and polishing furniture and other surfaces, cleaning window blinds, removing trash, sweeping and mopping floors, scrubbing/polishing floors, stripping and waxing floors, and vacuuming/spot cleaning/shampooing carpets. Additionally, the custodian will clean porches and walkways, stock restrooms with supplies, check and replace light bulbs, perform light building maintenance, maintain security of locked doors and windows, potentially oversee inmate workers, and perform all work in compliance with division policies, procedures, and standards of cleanliness, quality, and safety. The role also includes maintaining assigned vehicles and equipment, initiating repair work as needed, providing coverage for special meetings, requesting necessary tools, materials, and supplies, responding to inquiries and complaints, attending training, performing small repair work, and maintaining accurate records of work performed. All County employees are considered public servants and are expected to work during emergencies when requested.
