About The Position

San Diego State University Imperial Valley is seeking a part-time, service-oriented part-time Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. This role performs a variety of custodial, maintenance, and support duties to ensure campus facilities are clean, functional, and ready for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

Ability to lift and transport equipment, material and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance (in excess of 50 pounds with assistance).
A working knowledge of the common methods, practices, equipment, and materials used in custodial work
General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and methods of use; ability to make repairs to equipment to ensure good operating order.
Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in custodial services, maintenance services, or similar environment within the previous three years preferred.
Prior experience using custodial floor equipment (ride on Zambonis or walk – behind floor machines, carpet extractors, buffers, floor sweepers and restroom equipment) within the previous two years preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and building entrances.
Perform floor care, furniture cleaning, trash and recycling removal, and replenishment of restroom supplies.
Support post-construction cleanup, emergency response cleaning, and special custodial projects.
Maintain windows, stairwells, exterior walkways, and other campus facilities to ensure a clean and professional appearance.
Perform deep cleaning projects during campus closures, including floor restoration, carpet cleaning, pressure washing, and room setup.
Support conferences, special events, and other campus operational needs.
Perform minor facility and custodial equipment repairs and adjustments.
Report building maintenance needs and assist with securing campus facilities.
