Custodian
About The Position
VMAC is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian who is committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout our facilities. In this role, you'll help ensure our work environment is organized, well-maintained, and supports the health, safety, and productivity of our coworkers. Under the general direction of Maintenance Supervisor, the Custodian completes general cleaning, garbage collection and on-site disposal. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring buildings/facilities and site property are maintained in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
Requirements
- Secondary school diploma.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of safe cleaning practices and chemical handling.
- Excellent time management and project management skills.
- Positive attitude with a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
Nice To Haves
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or commercial cleaning experience considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, lunchrooms, meeting rooms, production areas, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Empty garbage and recycling bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Restock washroom supplies, including paper products, soap, and cleaning supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the appropriate personnel when supplies need replenishing.
- Perform periodic deep cleaning of designated areas.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and maintain custodial tools and supplies.
- Support special cleaning projects as required.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning meeting rooms for company events and meetings.
- Other duties as required.
