About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment throughout a corporate office building. This role performs daily cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance duties to ensure the facility meets company standards and provides a welcoming environment for employees, clients, and visitors. The Custodian must be dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness while following all applicable safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One to three years of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial or corporate office environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical handling.
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach overhead.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Push or pull carts and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize offices, conference rooms, lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste according to building procedures.
  • Restock restroom and kitchen supplies, including soap, paper products, and cleaning materials.
  • Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other interior glass surfaces.
  • Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the Facilities Manager.
  • Assist with meeting room setup and breakdown as needed.
  • Respond promptly to spills, emergencies, and special cleaning requests.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, building safety policies, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support seasonal or special projects, including deep cleaning and floor care.
