About The Position

The Custodian position at Casteel High School is a full-time, 12-month role responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive physical plant. This position involves a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and security tasks to ensure the school environment is conducive to learning and operations. The role is part of the Support Staff classification and falls under Grade 109.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
• Satisfactory criminal background check

Nice To Haves

• Previous custodial experience desired
• Two or more years of full-time like experience (for performance pay)
• A college degree in a similar field (for performance pay)

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust, vacuum, scrub, wax, and polish the floors and surfaces
• Wash windows, walls, woodwork, and equipment
• Clean assigned areas to prescribed standards and requirements
• Empty trash receptacles
• Perform minor repairs
• Move furniture and equipment based on the needs of the facility
• Replace light bulbs and perform minor maintenance
• Inspect all fire equipment on campus and maintain records of inspection
• Report safety/security hazards and needs for major repairs in an expeditious manner
• Secure the facility, ensuring building is locked/unlocked as required
• Handle emergency custodial duties for principals, teachers, and staff
• Follow district policies as outlined
• Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors
