About The Position

The Custodian plays a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across Clemson University’s academic, residential, and administrative buildings. This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of university facilities. The ideal candidate works well independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Commitment to upholding Clemson University’s standards for cleanliness and safety
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must practice good personal hygiene and be neatly groomed in a uniform
• Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
• Background check, drug screen, and proof of employment eligibility required

Nice To Haves

• Custodial experience ( cleaning, housekeeping, environmental services, custodian, janitorial, room attendant, floor care technician )

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles, and replace liners
• Replenish restroom supplies as needed
• Report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or damages to supervisors
• Assist in event setup and breakdown as required
• Follow established safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment
• Secure assigned buildings and rooms after cleaning
