About The Position

The Custodian position at the Middletown YMCA Family Location is responsible for maintaining and keeping the building facility and property in clean and orderly condition. This includes tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, vacuuming, and gathering and emptying trash. The role ensures that all restrooms, locker rooms, hallways, stairwells, program rooms, fitness centers, and outside grounds are clean and safe. Additionally, the custodian will move furniture and equipment as needed for thorough cleaning, assist with setting up and breaking down rooms for events, and ensure bathroom supplies are refilled. During winter months, assistance with snow removal is expected, and light maintenance tasks may be assigned. The custodian is also responsible for notifying managers about the need for repairs.

Requirements

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Maintain and keep building facility and property in clean and orderly condition such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and vacuuming in addition to gathering and emptying trash.
Ensure all restrooms, locker rooms, hallways, stairwells, program rooms, fitness centers and outside grounds are clean and safe.
Move furniture and equipment as required to properly and thoroughly clean areas including windows.
Assist with setting up rooms for meetings and events and breaking down of seating and equipment.
Ensure bathroom supplies including and not limited to, toilet tissue, towels, soap etc. are refilled.
During winter months be prepared to assist with snow removal.
Perform light maintenance tasks as assigned.
Notify managers regarding the need for repairs.
