About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning all aspects of assigned areas, ensuring a safe and secure environment, and assisting with room setups. The role also involves promoting diversity, inclusion, equity, and access, and supporting the organizational environment through goal-oriented actions.

Requirements

  • At least sixteen (16) years of age or older
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to Qualify for Auto Insurance Coverage
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in custodial work
  • Able to work safely with cleaning chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and trash receptacles.
  • Clean mirrors, hand rails, floors, glass doors, windows, window ledges, coat racks, file cabinets, blinds, shelves, tables, chairs, chalkboards, dry erase boards, ceilings, diffusers, and air ducts.
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Dry mop, wet mop, and clean the grease pit with the Hotsy.
  • Degrease shop floor concrete with lye in a mop bucket.
  • Etch concrete floors with muriatic acid.
  • Squeegee floors.
  • Put down hi-dri safety absorbent after oil spills.
  • Apply finish and sealer after stripping, to tile and concrete floors, ramps, and steps.
  • Clean floor drains with a shovel and scraper, removing sand, gravel, and sludge.
  • Lift and dump material from drains into waste barrels and dispose of it.
  • Ensure all doors are locked before leaving an area.
  • Transport tables and chairs for classroom/area set-ups and return them to storage after events.
  • Install floor coverings.
  • Pull out bleachers, set up stages and podiums, and set up sporting equipment.
  • Understand the dangers and safety precautions in the use of chemicals.
  • Ensure employees wear appropriate protective articles.
  • Keep emergency eye wash stations in working order.
  • Put out “Wet Floor” signs when appropriate and remove them when floors are dry.
  • Work toward creating a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment.
  • Make concerted efforts to implement accessible and inclusive practices and processes.
  • Foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion.
