About The Position

The YMCA of Indiana County is seeking a dependable, hardworking Part-Time Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members, participants, and staff. Under the direction of the Lead Custodian, this position is responsible for the day-to-day cleaning, sanitation, and general upkeep of YMCA facilities and grounds. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and is committed to providing excellent service while supporting the YMCA's mission and core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with members, staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move custodial equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Department of Human Services)
  • Pennsylvania State Police PATCH Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, fitness areas, classrooms, offices, and common spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect floors, furniture, and equipment.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and replenish restroom supplies.
  • Perform floor care including stripping, waxing, buffing, scrubbing, and carpet extraction.
  • Set up and tear down rooms for meetings, programs, and special events.
  • Clean interior windows, walls, doors, and other facility surfaces.
  • Safely operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools.
  • Lock, unlock, and secure assigned areas of the facility.
  • Report maintenance concerns and facility repairs.
  • Respond to spills, emergencies, and other custodial needs.
  • Follow YMCA safety policies and proper chemical handling procedures.
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
  • Perform other custodial and facility-related duties as assigned.
