About The Position

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Custodian to assist with performing and/or coordinating the cleaning and sanitation of city buildings and facilities and conducting inspections of buildings and equipment. This Custodian position earns competitive pay of $13.38/hr. Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency
  • Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No Experience Required.
  • Working knowledge of custodial materials and chemicals.
  • Working knowledge in the operation of custodial equipment.
  • Working knowledge in the use and maintenance of building maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Ability to use buffer, vacuum, polishers and other related cleaning materials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Dependability.
  • Current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing high quality service by cleaning office furniture, walls, windows, and floors; and empty trash.
  • Performing highly complex custodial work.
  • Coordinating and performing general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows, light fixtures, and carpets.
  • Cleaning, dusting, and disinfecting areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities.
  • Operating floor maintenance equipment, including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors.
  • Coordinating minor building repairs, scheduling, movement of office furniture and other items.
  • Maintaining inventory records of building property, custodial and maintenance tools and equipment, and custodial materials and supplies.
  • Performing minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment.
  • Securing buildings after working hours or as required.
  • Providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
