About The Position

The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform custodial duties at an assigned facility within the City of Charleston. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements

Six months of custodial experience or closely related experience.
Driver's License

Responsibilities

Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents.
Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives.
Performs custodial tasks including but not limited to the following: empties trash, cleans bathrooms, vacuums, sweeps, and mops floors, strips, waxes and buffs floors, cleans glass doors and windows, opens and closes facilities.
Loads and stocks the custodian cart; fills mop bucket; stocks paper towels, toilet paper and other supplies in facilities.
Cleans stairwells, lobbies and elevators.
Moves furniture; empties shredder; moves files.
Gathers trash and debris on the grounds; empties outside garbage cans; sweeps sidewalks and outside areas.
Performs light security work while on duty.
Delivers or retrieves mail.
Assists with small repairs.
