About The Position

The Middle/High School Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the Middle and High School buildings (6th–12th grades), helping to steward the school’s facilities with excellence. The custodian will work collaboratively with the custodial team to ensure the school environment reflects order, care, and professionalism.

Requirements

Must be a committed Christian and demonstrate a Christ-centered lifestyle.
Member of a local church in good standing.
Minimum of a High School diploma.
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout school facilities for extended periods.
Lift and carry equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs).
Bend, kneel, and reach to clean and maintain facilities.
Use manual dexterity to operate cleaning tools and equipment.
Clear verbal communication and hearing abilities for team coordination and safety compliance.
Visual acuity to assess cleanliness and maintenance needs.
Maintain a professional and positive demeanor with students, staff, and visitors.
Exhibit humility, initiative, and teamwork in daily responsibilities.
Be a self-starter with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
Respect the confidentiality and integrity of the school environment.
Support the overall mission and values of Rejoice Christian School.

Responsibilities

Perform all cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure a safe and attractive school environment.
Follow established cleaning guidelines for daily and periodic tasks.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, water fountains, glass surfaces, and the cafeteria.
Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas.
Perform floor care, including vacuuming, dust mopping, spot mopping, and deep cleaning of tiled areas.
Assist with periodic deep cleaning projects as scheduled.
Work efficiently and collaboratively with the custodial team to ensure facilities meet the highest standards.
Maintain an organized inventory of custodial supplies.
Communicate any maintenance or safety concerns to the Head Custodian.
Lift and transport up to 50 lbs as needed.
Be flexible and willing to assist with other duties as assigned to support the school.
