About The Position

The City of Livonia is seeking a Custodian for full-time and part-time positions. This role involves cleaning buildings and offices owned or leased by the City to maintain sanitary and neat facilities. The employee will perform a variety of cleaning tasks, potentially accept deliveries, distribute supplies, and assist staff. This position is responsible for keeping City facilities in excellent condition.

Requirements

• Must be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States.
• Must have or be eligible for a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate within one year of date-of-hire.
• Must have a minimum of six months full-time paid work experience, preferably custodial, janitorial, laborer, or maintenance work.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a written test.
• Must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
• Must pass an occupational fitness test.

Nice To Haves

• A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, waxes, and buffs floors.
• Changes light bulbs, cleans lenses and light fixtures.
• Washes walls, windows, and blinds.
• Dusts surfaces and other areas.
• Caulks and paints.
• Maintains restrooms.
• Sets up auditoriums and meeting rooms for various meetings and functions.
• Cleans mops, pails, and other equipment as necessary.
• Accepts deliveries for City facilities.
• Distributes supplies to City offices.
• Assists staff in City facilities.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
