This posting is specific to the permanent part time position in the City of Oakland. The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill multiple Custodian, PT (Part-Time) vacancies within the Public Works Department. Incumbents perform a variety of custodial duties in assigned buildings and perform minor maintenance as required, they respond to request for enhanced cleaning and sanitizing to prevent the spread of germs and virus and ensure clean safe and healthy buildings. Incumbents perform heavy routine cleaning, recycling, moving and setting-up of furniture, and other general custodial duties. The Custodian receives general supervision from a Custodian Supervisor & Custodial Services Supervisor I.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the eighth grade.
  • One year of full-time experience in building cleaning work.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning the outside perimeter of the building
  • Dumping trash
  • Stripping, waxing, and buffing floors
  • Cleaning and stocking restrooms
  • Cleaning and restocking supplies in common areas
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
