About The Position

This is a full-time, in-person, and essential position performing housekeeping and custodial services to ensure facilities and client environments are cleaned and maintained according to regulatory standards, providing a safe and sanitary environment for clients and staff. The role meets the facilities needs of the Department of Human Services Northern Region customers while managing resources to provide a high-quality physical environment. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a pleasant, safe, and sanitary environment for clients, personnel, and visitors across various agencies within the Department of Human Services, including the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHFL), Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC) and its group homes, and Division of Youth Services (DYS) facilities. The role must meet and maintain regulatory requirements set by JCAHO and the Colorado Department of Public Health, among other agencies.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time cleaning experience.
  • Must be a current Colorado resident.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass a Motor Vehicle Check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license throughout employment.
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical or religious exemption.
  • Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must be available to respond in person to after-hours calls via callback to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
  • May be required to work various hours for coverage, weather-related issues, and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.
  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Experience working in a lead role that included assigning tasks, training, monitoring progress and workflow, checking the product, scheduling work, and establishing work standards.
  • Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities such as schools, colleges, hospitals, long-term care facilities, mental health institutes, or correctional institutions.
  • Experience sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, as well as performing general dusting and vacuuming within schools, colleges, hospitals, long-term care facilities, mental health institutes, or correctional institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a work leader by training employees, reviewing and inspecting completed work assignments, and assigning and coordinating daily duties, special projects, and staff work requests.
  • Complete monthly re-inspections in the assigned area.
  • Ensure all work performed is in compliance with current DFM standards.
  • Determine the need for project work, coordinate and schedule with area staff and supervisor, and perform work.
  • Arrange a daily cleaning schedule to accommodate absent employees, supervisors, changing programs, work requests, and problems.
  • Ensure proper area coverage during heavy workloads and staff shortages.
  • Perform daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of the assigned work area per schedules and procedures, including sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, and restroom cleaning.
  • Use appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals, and equipment to clean and sanitize.
  • Perform daily detailed cleaning of the assigned area, including washing walls, doors, frames, sills, windows, baseboards, fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
  • Perform project floor work, including buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, sealing of hard floor surfaces, bonnet cleaning, spot cleaning, shampooing, and extracting of carpeted floors.
  • Move furniture as required.
  • Collect and dispose of trash, recycling, shredding, and biohazard waste by properly containing and transporting it to designated disposal locations.
  • Replace light bulbs, assist with minor building repairs, and perform snow removal.
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventories, and order and issue cleaning supplies.
  • Perform essential and/or emergency services, including callbacks without delay or interruption.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
