About The Position

The Custodian Lead I participates in and supervises routine cleaning of all areas of the building and policing of the grounds. The role assists with training custodial staff and oversees their work, maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. The position also performs minor maintenance, supports building security, and completes a range of custodial and facility-support tasks. Duties listed are illustrative; similar, related, or logically assigned work may also be required. The position is at Crittenden Middle School. Compensation is in accordance with hourly grade 16, with special consideration commensurate with education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

Assist in training custodial staff at the assigned location.
Oversee custodial work and maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
Perform minor maintenance, including replacing lights, tubes, ceiling tiles, switch and outlet plates, and pencil sharpeners.
Use a power lift to perform tasks at heights of up to 40 feet.
Interact effectively with principals, teachers, students, and visitors.
Lock and unlock doors; check building and grounds security; and activate and deactivate the alarm system.
Sweep and wet- or dry-mop floors; wax floors and operate buffing machines.
Vacuum and care for carpeting.
Wash windows and furniture.
Clean restrooms using appropriate equipment and supplies.
Mop and buff the cafeteria.
Move furniture and fold or unfold chairs as required.
Pick up paper and debris from school grounds.
Check heating and air conditioning for proper operation.
Contact Plant Services about after-hours emergencies.
Raise and lower flags.
Deliver packages and messages.
Make minor repairs to equipment and furniture as needed.
Load and unload delivery trucks.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
