About The Position

BRC is a highly efficient and flexible manufacturing facility specializing in case goods production for the furniture industry. Located in Georgetown, Ontario, we pride ourselves on delivering quality products while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and safety-focused workplace. The Opportunity BRC is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Janitor / Custodian to join our growing Maintenance and Facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the plant, office spaces, and surrounding areas. You will also support operational needs through cross-training and collaboration with other departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 3–5 years of janitorial/custodial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and custodial procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks (bending, twisting, standing for extended periods)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues or inconsistencies
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to operate tools and equipment
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of floors (sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and operating industrial floor scrubbers) across office and production areas
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, common areas, kitchen spaces, and appliances
  • Maintain exterior areas including picnic and smoking areas
  • Restock and manage inventory of janitorial supplies; report needs to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance
  • Empty waste, recycling, and rag bins safely and regularly
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces to support a healthy work environment
  • Clean up hazardous and non-hazardous spills in compliance with WHMIS guidelines (once certified)
  • Maintain lockers and shared equipment as scheduled
  • Support production teams when trained (e.g., loading materials, assisting operators)
  • Keep loading docks clear, maintain walkways (including snow/ice removal), and ensure emergency exits remain unobstructed
  • Complete facility checklists and adhere to daily/weekly cleaning schedules
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions
  • Follow all SOPs, quality standards, and health & safety policies
  • Wear required PPE at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Participate in training and cross-functional support as needed
