About The Position

This is a Custodian II position with Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools, effective July 1, 2026. The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The starting wage ranges from $25.37 to $26.09 per hour. The position requires a High School diploma or GED, related experience, and exemplary verbal and written communication skills. The role involves working effectively with others, clear communication, active listening, organizational and problem-solving skills, knowledge of heating/cooling systems, electrical and plumbing repairs, safety procedures, and proper chemical care. The custodian must be mechanically inclined, capable of minor repairs, and able to assess and report mechanical concerns. Flexibility in cleaning schedules is also important. Successful background checks and pre-employment drug screening are required.

Requirements

  • Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals, e.g., OSHA/PERRAC training
  • Ability to read written instructions, warnings, and labels, and understand verbal directions
  • Mechanically inclined with an attitude to do minor repairs, evaluate and assess mechanical concerns, and report the problems to the Head Custodian for further evaluation
  • Acceptance of building use and the need for flexibility in cleaning schedules
  • Successful background checks
  • Pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain school facilities.
