About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide custodial services in maintaining County buildings in a clean, orderly, and safe manner. This position performs cleaning duties and informs management of repair needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials and methods for proper use of chemicals and materials.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of general custodial and lawn maintenance procedures.
  • Physical abilities to perform duties.
  • Knowledge of County guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to operate cleaning tools, accessories and equipment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and six (6) months of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and disposes of trash and debris.
  • Collects, sorts, and disposes of recyclables.
  • Provides general custodial maintenance of assigned county buildings and facilities, to include Westminster Library.
  • Performs various custodial duties in restrooms such as cleaning sinks, toilets, and urinals.
  • Restocks all paper products in restrooms.
  • Vacuums and cleans carpet floors.
  • Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors.
  • Cleans interior and exterior windows.
  • Moves furniture and equipment as directed.
  • Disposes of furniture and equipment as directed.
  • Notifies management of needed repairs.
  • Notifies management of needed supplies.
  • Supervises inmates from detention center and/or individuals performing community service by assisting with custodial duties.
  • Maintains County owned vehicle.
  • Notifies management of any concerns with vehicle.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
