About The Position

The Custodian I performs general cleaning in assigned areas, including offices, common areas, laboratories, restrooms, and drinking fountains. The role also assists with materials recycling and completes special cleaning assignments as directed by the night supervisor. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 40 hours per week, from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the use of equipment and cleaning chemicals necessary to perform assigned work.
• Ability to stoop by bending the body downward and forward at the waist.
• Ability to reach in any direction with the hands and arms.
• Ability to occasionally move between work sites and within the office.
• Ability to communicate frequently with others.
• Use personal protective equipment in the biohazard laboratory environment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
• Ability to perform medium work: exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash.
• Vacuum carpets.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Disinfect restrooms and drinking fountains.
• Dust office areas, common areas, and laboratories.
• Use the equipment and cleaning chemicals necessary to perform assigned work.
• Assist in the materials recycling program.
• Complete special cleaning assignments instructed by the night supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Conduct oneself in compliance with ARUP policies and procedures.
