About The Position

The Custodian I position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in university buildings and grounds. This role performs routine custodial and basic preventative maintenance tasks and special events support under supervision, following established procedures and schedules. The position supports the daily operations of the university by ensuring facilities are clean, orderly, and welcoming to students, staff, and visitors. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Requirements

High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, standards and safety procedures.
Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and ensure all areas of the facility are kept clean and in sanitary conditions.
Organizational and time management skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

Exceptional customer service experience.
Two years or more of institutional custodial experience.
Experience operating carpet cleaning and floor finishing machines. For example: buffers, extractors, auto scrubbers, and propane burnishers.

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize assigned classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and public areas following established schedules and procedures.
Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables; restock restroom and facility supplies such as soap, paper products, and sanitizers.
Operate and maintain custodial equipment including vacuums, floor polishers, and steam cleaners while using cleaning chemicals safely and properly.
Assist with deep cleaning projects (e.g., carpet shampooing, floor waxing, window washing), laundry tasks, and provide courteous assistance to building occupants and visitors.
Involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the cleanliness and organization of event spaces.
