About The Position

The Custodian ensures a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment by performing a variety of cleaning, light maintenance, and event setup tasks across campus facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining floors, restrooms, and other surfaces; operating cleaning equipment; and managing the safe handling of chemicals. This position will be located at our Medford location and will work 15 hours per week.

Requirements

• Less than High School Education
• 2 Years
• Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, emails and memos; discuss information one-on-one and in small groups.
• Math Skills: Ability to add and subtract numbers using basic units of measurement.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions; solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Technical Skills: Ability to navigate to and between computer applications; read/reply to emails, open/save/close files and applications; find, format and print documents; operate common office equipment.
• Customer Service Skills: Ability to pleasantly initiate, maintain and end a conversation; act in a professional manner using appropriate language and body language.

Nice To Haves

• Some custodial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facility Cleaning and Maintenance and Event Setup
• Clean and maintain various flooring surfaces, including LVT, tile, carpet, and concrete.
• Scrub and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, fixtures, walls, and floors.
• Restock restroom supplies such as paper products and soap.
• Clean windows, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Set up and move furniture and equipment for events.
• Equipment Operation and Safety
• Operate and maintain equipment such as vacuums, carpet shampooers, scrubbers, and buffing machines.
• Handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety protocols.
• Utilize ladders safely to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Building Security and Emergency Support
• Lock and unlock doors to ensure the security of assigned buildings.
• Respond to emergencies and assist management as necessary.
• Assist with directing customers to safe locations during severe weather.
• Additional Responsibilities
• Unpack and put away supply orders.
• Remove snow from assigned building entrances.
• Use college vehicles for local pickups or drop-offs of supplies or equipment.
• Replace light bulbs.
