About The Position

Garten is seeking a Custodian Driver to join our team in Eugene, OR. As a not-for-profit organization focused on hiring people with disabilities, we are dedicated to providing high-quality services that make a meaningful impact in the community. The Custodian Driver will perform custodial duties to fulfill contract requirements, ensuring all tasks are done safely and to Garten's quality standards. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team, with a strong emphasis on teamwork within the Garten environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide own transportation to and from work, with valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance preferred.
  • Ability to be the primary driver for designated team(s).
  • Physical ability to operate custodial equipment, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs and make repetitive motions of the arms/hands.
  • Physical ability to push/pull up to 20 pounds, to lift up to 200 pounds with assistance, and to carry up to 40 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday.
  • Ability to balance attentiveness to quality while concentrating on speed.
  • Ability to notice detail.
  • Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment and/or take independent action, and provide customer service.
  • Must be capable and willing to work an 8-hour day and up to 40 hours/week as required.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English preferred.
  • Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes.
  • A minimum of 1-6 months experience/training in general custodial service.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.

  • Proof of current vehicle insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Being the primary driver for the team(s) assigned to.
  • Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, and other miscellaneous services safely and in compliance with all Garten policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring supply needs and stock levels.
  • Places supply requests as needed to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Assists with distribution of supplies.
  • Checks quality against task lists and/or other control documents to ensure all items are completed for the site each time.
  • Performs quality assurance checks.
  • Provides input on ways the organization can create integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
  • Participates in and attends committees/teams as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
