About The Position

It is our honor and privilege to provide comfort and care to Ohio's heroes — wartime veterans from all across the state and all branches of service. The Ohio Veterans Homes, part of Ohio Department of Veterans Services, are trauma-informed care long-term care focused on providing excellent care to Ohio’s Veterans. The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky. Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary.

Responsibilities

• Cleans & maintains restrooms, living facilities &/or dining areas, offices (e.g., sweeps, mops, strips, buffs & waxes floors; vacuums carpets; cleans glass & mirrors; washes windows & walls; scrubs sinks, countertops, toilets; cleans & empties receptacles; dust varying surfaces; replenishes soap, toilet paper, paper towels)
• Responsible for exercising principles of infection control & implements infection control policies & procedures (e.g., wipes up spills & fluids on floor; washes & cleans resident beds & other furniture; proper use of personal protective equipment)
• Checks on supplies; stocks supply closets
• Reports need for repair of equipment; reports evidence of fire, illegal entry & theft of property
• Cleans offices (e.g., vacuums carpet, cleans & dusts furniture, fixtures & equipment; cleans & empties trash receptacles)
